ARM STRETCHING

Upper arm stretching, also known as Brachioplasty, is a type of plastic surgery performed by removing loose skin and subcutaneous adipose tissue on the upper arm. In patients, excess adipose tissue that gives the appearance of a bat wing is removed and the arm is reshaped. If the fat and skin tissue on your upper arm is disproportionately large compared to your lower arm, you are a suitable candidate for an arm lift operation.

WHO SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FOR ARM LIFT SURGERY?

  • • If your weight is normal but you feel uncomfortable due to the excess in the upper arm
  • • If you have had extreme weight loss and the excess skin and fat on the upper arm creates the appearance of a bat's wing
  • * If the arm area is more prominent and larger than your other body
  • * If you have undergone stomach reduction surgeries
  • • If you have previously had excess skin in the upper arm area after fat removal

ARM STRETCHING TECHNIQUES

The arm lift surgery technique to be selected varies from patient to patient. Whatever the problem is determined for you after the examination, your planning is done according to it. It is determined by your skin quality (elasticity) and the condition of the sagging skin and excess fat under your arm.

LIPOSUCTION

If your skin tissue is of sufficient elasticity and quality to provide the necessary tightening after your fat tissue is removed, arm liposuction is a method that can be the first choice. If your skin is flabby, tissue sagging will be much more noticeable after oil removal. Liposuction is a shaping procedure that can also be added to standard arm lift surgeries. In liposuction surgeries, there are very small scars only at the points where the liposuction cannula enters the body, and these disappear over time.

MINI ARM STRETCHING

If the sagging in your skin tissue is located close to the armpit, an incision is made from the armpit fold line and the excess fat in this area is removed, the skin is stretched. This method is more preferable in cases where there is not too much excess adipose tissue, in which skin folds near the armpit area are formed. The mark on the mini arm stretch completely hits the armpit floor instead, the mark is invisible as long as the arm is not lifted. Over time, traces can be erased and become invisible.

STANDARD ARM STRETCHING

If the excessively sagging skin tissue extends from the armpit to the elbow in the appearance of a bat wing, the only remedy for its correction is standard arm stretching surgery. In this operation, a complete incision is made from the inside of the arm from the armpit to the elbow. When excess skin and excess fat in this area is removed, the resulting scar will be hidden on the face of the arm facing the body when the standing arms are lowered down.

EXTENDED ARM STRETCHING

Extended arm stretching; nowadays, it has become more popular after stomach reduction surgeries. Excess skin on the arm is more after excessive and rapid weight loss. Therefore, although it is similar to standard arm stretching, the incision from the arm is extended to the bra line and it is a method that allows you to remove excess fat and excess skin in that area. Especially problems in this area arise in patients who have lost excess weight.

RESULTS OF ARM LIFT SURGERY

As long as there are no sudden and rapid fluctuations in body weight, the result of your arm lift surgery will remain permanent for years. Your arms, like your body, will continue to age, and skin elasticity will deteriorate over time. This may cause looseness in the skin again in the future. If you have a significant weight gain after surgery and lose weight again, skin laxity will occur again. However, in any case, the looseness that will occur in the arm will always be much less than it was before the operation.
